Lies

by Sylvan Migdal

They tell you that you are smart.
They tell you that you don’t believe everything you hear.
They sell your own cynicism back to you.
They let you believe you are thinking for yourself.
They tell the truth, but they are only joking.
They tell you to vote for a man who can’t tie his own shoelaces.
Because you are smart.
Becuase you don’t believe everything you hear: only the lies,
Disguised as lies.
